The sacrum is a bone resulting from the fusion of 5 sacral vertebrae. It containes large sacral foramina for passage of ventral rami of sacral nerves and a median sacral crest containing reduced spinous processes.
The sacrum articulates with the hip bones. It is inferior to the lumbar vertebrae. Tap on the sacrum in the image below and it will appear shaded red.
