From T1 - T10 there are articulating facets found on the posterolateral aspect of the body. They are referred to as a superior costal facet when they are found on the superior aspect of the body, and an inferior costal facet when they are found on the inferior aspect of the body. Between T1 and T1 these facets line up and articulate with the head of the rib. In the lateral image below of an articulated T4 and T5, tap on the inferior costal facet of T4 and superior costal facet of T5 and they will appear labeled and shaded.
